What is the difference?

Have you ever wondered what the difference is between a patio and a deck? I am wondering that very thing - apparently a patio and a deck aren’t the same, at least in a technicality. I have been told by various people that a patio is sometimes covered, while a deck is usually not. This would make sense, because patio furniture is sometimes marketed differently than deck furniture, and is composed of a variant of materials. However, I have seen “decks” that are covered and “patios” that are not covered. I just can’t figure out what the exact dividing point is!

Oh well, I guess it’s just one of those “give or take” phrases, heh!
