The Police are Back
Word Count: 545
If you haven’t realized yet, some of my favorite music is from the 60’s to the 80’s range. There is a radio station in my area that plays music from that time period all of the time. Little did I know it, but I had been listening to music by The Police off and on for a while on that radio station. Songs like “Message in a bottle” and “Demolition Man” had been songs that I had heard for a while especially, but I didn’t really know who they were by. Well, recently with the news about the reforming of The Police and the new, I looked into some of their music and realized that those and songs were ones that I enjoyed listening to. After spending a little more time looking around, I’ve realized that these guys have a lot of good songs, not just those two but there are many more. I’ll probably be downloading even more songs by them off of iTunes in the future. Now that I’ve realized that I like their music, I’m even more glad about the news that they’ve regrouped. (If you’re behind on the news like I had been for a while, here is what happened: The group dissolved in 1984, but this year, 2007, they’re back!)
The probable reunion tour that they are having is to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the group. Material is being re-released, and recently they even were featured as the 49th annual Grammy Awards opening group, with their announcement of “We are the Police and we are back!” and playing one of their hit songs, “Roxanne”.
So, earlier in this post, I mentioned their CD that they released, which hit the public on June 5th of this year, not too long ago. (Apparently there is a really cool bonus poster that comes with the CD, so even if you are an iTunes user, the poster may be reason enough to buy the actual CD hard copy) The new CD is a two disc set featuring many of their greatest hits.
