The most annoying number: (800) 611-8300

This number calls multiple times every day. And I’m not alone; after talking to some friends online and doing a quick Google search, I’ve found that there are other people who have this number calling them multiple times a day, also. One of the posts I read in a forum relating to this number said that this number was related to a fund raiser for the veterans. However, it is expected that these fund raisers that take place through the phone lines generate only 1.4 cents for every dollar donated to the veterans. The rest of it goes to the people who are calling you and bothering you and their bosses, and the people who coordinate the fund raising. So I’d highly recommend not  buying anything from these guys, it would be a waste and they’d  probably keep calling you every day anyway.
Another story I read about this number was when someone finally got fed up with them and after an argument, reported them to their phone company. The company said that there was nothing they could do about it, that they would have to block the call.
So anyway, back to my own story about this. At my house, we have software that allows us to pick numbers to automatically hang up on. Every time we get a call from this number now, it hangs up after the first ring, so at least we don’t have to listen to the phone ringing forever and ever. You’d think that these guys would realize that after we’ve hung up on them a few hundred times that they’d realize we don’t want to donate anything.

So, do you or anyone you know get calls from this number daily, or even like a lot of people (including me) get calls from this number multiple times per day? First off, don’t prank or argue with the people on the other end of this number. One story I read said that after they got in an argument with the guy on the other end, they kept getting the phone calls from that number, and they also got a few rude phone calls from another number as well relating to their argument.  I do feel, however, that there is a way to get these guys to stop calling us every couple of hours.  First of all, reporting them can’t hurt, although it most likely won’t help unless thousands of people report them.  Maybe if we told the veterans that the company trying to fund raise for them was being so annoying and generating so little help for them then they’d fire their current fund raising company. Hopefully.
I think that a lot of people are getting annoying calls from this number and just letting them slide, trying to ignore them. What would be really cool is if all of us getting these annoying calls banded together to figure out how to stop these guys. They aren’t just regular telemarketers that call once every other day or so, these guys call once every other hour or so! They must be stopped!
Okay, so maybe I went a little overboard in that last sentence or two, but in all seriousness these guys are calling a lot of us way too much. What they are doing may be legal, but if we speak up there must be a way to stop them.
