Not only are they a way to help people make their sites better, but they are a way to get my sites links out there, and to increase general knowledge about my site. Its kind of similar with advertising pens. They are good and usually free for your customers to whom you give out your pens (as with my webtools), and they put a positive image of your company in their mind. Also, whenever someone borrows a pen from one of your customers, its is free advertising to them, also. So, as with my webtools, the pen ads can work subtly and effectively.
