Playing a musical instrument takes a lot more than meets the eye. While yes, you do need to practice the instrument, there is a lot more investment than just buying a new or used instrument. If you are playing a brass instrument, you’ll need a mouthpiece. The woodwind equivalent is a reed - they will have to pick from brands such as chamilia and Markus. Even percussionists need to find the right drum sticks, the right mallets, or the right practice pad. (And if a percussionist wants to have their own instruments, they can expect to pay quite a premium!)
