If you’re a webmaster buying ads for your website, it may be tempting to go for non-targeted ads. They’re usually a lot cheaper than targeted ads, and it seems like you’re ad will show up much faster on a wider range of sites. That’s all good, right? Well, only if your service/product is also non-targeted, which is rarely the case. For example, would you want a girls purses ad to display on a boys mountain bike website? Also, if you are a webmaster, you may reconsider placing non-targeted ads on your website. For one thing, they pay you less! For another thing, what if your site is targeted to people in their mid-20’s. Would an ad for incontinence products really serve your customers?

With ad services that are contextual or targeted, you should have an obvious best choice. :)
