It already is a relatively big issue, with people working at anything from getting hybrid vehicles to having energy efficient light fixtures installed in their homes. Honestly, if just one person or one family were to make these changes, there would be no difference. However, if millions of families were all to make this change in their lifestyle, the energy usage throughout the world would go down quite a bit, resulting in a much cleaner atmosphere. It is debatable if the energy prices would actually go up, but since everyone would be using less energy, you would probably still end up paying less than you are now anyway, and it would be much better for the environment.
