Is your phone service plan worth the cost?
Word Count: 438Many of us are paying $20 dollars a month or more for a limited phone plan; the basics. No long distance or you’ll be facing HUGE charges. For business owners, this isn’t something that they could really thrive with. If you’re doing business with people in the UK all the time, but you live in the USA, you’re going to rack up hundreds upon hundreds of dollars in long distance billing plans. That is, if you stick with your standard service plan. There’s this cool thing called VoIP, which is great for small business phone systems. Companies such as Packet8 offer a VoIP phone service that is much cheaper and cost-effective than your standard phone service. For a one time fee of $150 bucks and then $50 a month after that, you can get UNLIMITED phone calls to ANYWHERE in the world. (And that’s not just basic calling, it also comes with switchboard features and more, all that a business could use) Just the calling alone would be worth $200 per month or more on standard phone services, so it would be worth it in my opinion to pay the set up fees and then get all that for just $30 more than your basic, limited, local only phone bill. Over months of using this service, the savings will quickly add up, and the extra features will also make running a business much easier.
If your business is mainly local, there are also other things that Packet8 has to offer, plans that run as cheap as $10 bucks a month. That $10 is less than the average phone bill and still pays for extra features that really come in handy for business owners. You can also use the service for Faxing as well as telephone calls, so all you’ll need is an internet connection!
For just $5 a month, you can set up your own toll-free number that allows customers around the world to call you for free. For the same price, you can also set up virtual numbers so that your business can appear to be local if need be, or if you are handling calls for an out of town business.
In my opinion, VoIP looks to be a very obvious good choice for small and large business owners alike. There are tons of options, which I’m not going to list all here (you can check them out with the link in the top paragraph of this post) so there’s bound to be one to fit your business plan. If it can save you money, it can make you money. A penny saved is a penny earned!
