Insurance Is Messed Up

I don’t know what I think for sure about the whole health care reform issue. I know it’s hot on the press right now and that it is being met with a lot of negative responses, but that’s politics - you never know who to believe. What I think really needs reform though is insurance in general. Every type of insurance is overcharged and the rates are only going up because they want to make a profit. Plus, they avoid giving insurance to high risk people such as life insurance for senior citizens or health insurance for someone with cancer. Isn’t that part of the point of insurance, to cover risks? Plus, if you look at how much you pay out per month on insurance and how much profit the companies make each quarter, you’ll see that they could afford to make your rates MUCH lower, while still leaving breathing room. Maybe insurance companies should be required to be non-profit…
