I can’t wait to hit the sack

It truly seems that every time I expect my schedule to slow down, it doesn’t. I’m starting to get the idea that from now on, the only thing I can really count on when looking at my schedule is that it’s going to be much busier than it seems.

Anyway, as I’m here on the computer, getting my last minute tasks done before going to sleep, the phrase “hit the sack” came up in my mind. I envision a super tired person letting their head fall against the pillow, and their mind fall out of consciousness. It’s interesting, though, to think of what we might use in the future for terms of going to sleep.

“Night everyone, it’s time to sculpt my foam mattress.”

or

“I’m stepping off into sleep for the night.”

The first one may not seem futuristic because we already have foam mattresses, which is true. I just think they will start to become much more of a standard over the next decade. The second one probably makes no sense to you, and that’s fine. It’s not really supposed to.
