The moon has a very interesting pattern, it follows an elliptical span across the sky; in that mode however, it is not unusual. The sun and stars will also follow a similar pattern across the sky because of the way the earth rotates. What makes the moon’s pattern interesting is the way that light reaching the moon is blocked by the earth at times. This light blockage results in a scrupulous pattern of moon phases that have been used for timekeeping for thousands of years. Next time you look at the moon, just remember that it is more in depth than you might think!
