Cellfish: Pictures for your Phone
Word Count: 417Many of you may have read my previous post about Cellfish, a cool site with all sorts of stuff for online media connecting with your cell phone. From Free Ringtones (there are some really nice ringtones on there that you’d be surprised are free, be sure to check it out) to making your own images that can be used as custom backgrounds, there is a lot to choose from.
The above picture is one that I took at an indoor conservatory for wildlife. The picture is a little blurry, but that’s my fault for moving the camera too quickly as I was taking the picture. After I uploaded the Image, there was an embed code. To get the box above into my post, all I had to do was copy and paste it here. (This is a great feature for people who run their own website or blog) If would like the picture for your cell phone, all you have to do is click on that phone in the bottom right corner. Here’s a little secret: a lot of sites make you pay to download phone wallpapers. If you find a picture you like, you can just put it on Cellfish, send it to your phone, and then apply that image as your phone wallpaper. This is the end of paying high prices for cool wallpapers!
There is one small complaint that some people have mentioned in the past. It doesn’t bother me at all, but whenever you upload an image, you are sent a text message with a link to that image. Personally, I like that feature as an additional way of easy access to your uploaded images. However, if you’d like to turn off that feature, it’s really easy. After logging in, click on “My account” at the top of the page. Then click “Messages/Alerts”. After that, just check/uncheck the boxes for the “By text message to my phone” column, and you’re all done.
If you haven’t signed up for Cellfish yet, I recommend that you at least check it out. If you are a blog owner, this is a nice alternative to uploading images and videos on your own server. If you are a cell phone user, then this is the perfect alternative to paying for cool backgrounds. Even if you don’t fit into either of those categories, there is a community feature and feel to the Cellfish website; you’ll be able to meet new people and see what they’ve been uploading as well.
