While many people are wary of social security benefits disappearing over the next couple of decades (notably, people have been worried about benefits disappearing “soon” for quite a long time now), yet also many people are not taking advantage of the full benefits that they are paying for. Social security benefits, although they may seem free now, were paid for by your tax dollars in years past. So, it’s almost like you are getting a return on your investment - there’s no reason not to use the benefits when you really need to.
